Electrical/Solar Updates

The Freedom’s AC and DC electrical system is set up for living on the hook and off the grid.  You won’t find another yacht of this size with as comprehensive but simple system anywhere. First, all batteries comprising the 32 VDC system were moved to the port engine room. Six Lifeline 8D AGM batteries were added to the starboard engine room.  All engine room floors were upgraded to accommodate the extra weight. Four 170-watt SunPower solar panels were installed on the forward truck top and wired down into the engine room. A Victron Solar controller and Victron complete Battery monitoring system were installed. This system monitors the ships 12- and 32-volt systems. It has a colored led monitor near the pilothouse, and it may also be monitored on your cell phone via Bluetooth. A Balmar 260-amp alternator with a multistage regulator was installed to provide quick charging of the inverter batteries while running the main engines.  A larger 32-volt alternator was also installed to provide high amperage charging of the 32-volt banks. An AIM’s 4000-watt 240VAC/120VAC pure sine wave inverter was installed. The 240/120 capability really make it a versatile system as the 4000-watt inverter is capable of carrying some of those 240V loads. It will Run the New master stateroom air conditioning as well as the Mid stateroom air conditioning for some time even without being charged by a running engine. If your engine is running your time is greatly extended so you can use many hi amperage loads while cruising without running a generator. In addition to the AIM’s inverter the Yacht also has an Outback 3000-watt 120-volt inverter which pulls its power from the 32-volt battery back. So, there is plenty of redundancy of inverted power via two separate battery sources. In addition to that the boat has the two New Generators as well, the 13kw Northern lights, and the 21.5kw Phasor.

Engine Rooms

The Engine rooms are pristine, both engines and entire engine room were completely repainted. The main engines had all new injectors installed and were completely serviced. The engine hoses were replaced with Blue silicone hoses and new clamps. The gear oil filter housings and the secondary fuel housings were upgraded to accommodate spin on fuel filters instead of element filters. A new 30-gallon 4500-watt water heater installed as well as new led engine room lighting, new 8-volt batteries, and new 12-volt Lifeline AGM batteries. There is a Glendenning engine synchronizer, naiad stabilizers, Victron DC power monitors, hydraulic controls, updated and upgraded 600 gpd water maker and filters, fuel selection valves, 12 volt and 32-volt alternators and battery chargers, new oil change gear pump and manifold system, new air compressor, and new ac and dc freshwater pumps. The bow thruster motor is also new. The engines have approximately 1400 hours on them since they were overhauled.

Generator room and Equiptment

The brand-new Phasor 21kw generator (164 hours) and Brand-New Northern lights 13 kw generator (338 hours) are housed below the galley in the generator room. Both generators have full sound enclosure boxes. Mufflers and exhaust hoses for the generators have been replaced as well. Each generator has its own independent starting battery. The Generator room also houses two spare props and a spare stub shaft. There are two isolation transformers and lots of other storage space. All the air conditioning unit are in this area as well, including the New master stateroom and New Mid Cabin air conditioners. There is a separate water pump for the master and mid cabin air conditioners which allow these units to be run from the inverter without the generator running if desired.  Air conditioning inlet and outlet water manifolds and hoses are all Brand new. The generator room has DC lighting and New AC LED lighting.

Flybridge

A ladder leads from the aft deck leads up to the spacious flybridge. This is a great area to enjoy the sun or have lunch. Mounted forward on the flybridge are three helm chairs with stainless pedestals and footrests.
